TOGETHER... WE CAN GET THROUGH ANYTHING!

Brothers and Sisters of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue we are glad you are here exploring ways to get better.  If you need assistance please reach out to one of our team members.

At some point in life we all experience hard times.  This may come by sickness, loss of a loved one, emotional issues, financial strain, marital difficulties and or the mental/physical strain of being a first responder.  Our mission is to "Bear one another's burdens" by walking with you through the season you are in.  Our goal is to provide a comfortable and confidential atmosphere where our brothers and sisters can open up and talk about issues that may be weighing them down.

QUESTIONS?

WHEN I REACH OUT TO ONE OF THE PEER SUPPORT TEAM MEMBERS WILL MY INFORMATION REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL?

The Local 765 Peer Support team have strict guidelines in place that each member should follow.  If a brother or sister confides in a team member and does not want any information released then it should remain with that particular member unless directed by the one seeking help. We will do our absolute best to keep all information 100% confidential. If a member of the team violates our confidentiality guideline then they will be removed from the team. *A duty to act will always remain part of our guidelines if the team member feels the brother or sister reaching out could harm themself or others.

WHOSE PART OF THE PEER SUPPORT TEAM?

We have members from all ranks and shifts that have volunteered to be there for you when you are experiencing a tough season. You can view our team member page to see who our team consist of.  If you are not comfortable opening up to a team member from our fire department we can also set you up with a Peer Support team member from one of our neighboring departments.

WHAT KIND OF HELP DO PEER SUPPORT TEAM MEMBERS OFFER?

We are here to walk along side you in your time of need.  Members of the team have taken varies classes that discuss PTSD, suicide awareness and prevention, crisis management, recognizing compassion fatigue and more.  We are not professional counselors by any means but will do our best to listen to you and offer our time and resources to you. We are here to help in any capacity that we can.

You never know when you might get "that" call...so if or when you do, just know we are here for you! Calls like the ones in the video below can and will happen!
